
Stone Source offers a unique range of forest salvage wood from blighted butternut and culled sugar maple trees. The Spalted Maple is harvested from some of Vermont’s oldest maple sugar orchards where over time due to the decrease in sap production they are culled from the orchards. The spalted effect is created by accelerating the aging process it is then processed to reveal the black spalt patterns. There is random streaking and a range of colors in this beautiful wood. To highlight the tap streaks on the surface of the wood on the Tapped Maple the tap holes are filled with colored resin offering a unique alternative to traditional wood products.
