Surface Inc is proud to introduce Ombrae™ a patented, computer-based image processing system which brings the ancient technique of Bas Relief sculpture out of the past and into the forefront of surface design technology. Invented and developed by the Canadian artist Roderick Quin, the process is not photographic transfer or a traditional holographic process, but is made from 3D pixels or optical tiles™.

The aluminium Ombrae optical tiling system panels have been available commercially for sometime and now with the development of the Cor-Ten steel panels the potential applications have been expanded greatly to include large scale projects. There are unlimited combinations of material, color and transparency available to allow designers the ability to develop a solution for almost any design problem, in any scale, in any material for interiors as well as exteriors.

Note at the present time Ombrae™ is only available commercially in aluminium or Cor-Ten steel panel systems however; other materials such as glass, concrete, rubber, resin, etc are due to follow shortly.
