Onyx Solar, based in Spain, develops building integrated photovoltaic materials that are used to replace conventional construction materials on different parts of a building’s exterior such as ventilated facades and roofs, curtain walls, skylights, walkable roofs, etc. The photovoltaic properties allow the glass to produce clean and free energy from the sun even in buildings where the orientation and inclination are not optimal. Still in development is the walkable roof system pictured that features a SI glass, a material that is ideal for extended periods of exposure.
