This sustainable and durable countertop material is a dense, lightweight and anti-bacterial cork material made from 100% post-industrial recycled cork grain. The cork bark is a protected material in Portugal that can only be harvested every nine years. It is used primarily to make cork bottle stoppers for the wine industry and Suberra recycles the waste material from this industry.
The company creates high density building materials with a closed cell structure that is impermeable and non-porous, resists water and stains and inhibits bacterial growth. The material also heals itself and is perfect for kitchen and bathroom countertops as well as for work surfaces.
Due to it’s lightweight and sound dampening properties it is also an excellent material for marine and aerospace interior installations. The first image is a vanity top, the second a close-up of the countertop product and the third is an office work-top.
